Pritananda tries to see the world!: June 2015

Australia is known as multicultural country. A lot of people from another countries such as India, China, Indonesia, Europe, etc; can be seen around the country. Even some places over there are authentic to another countries like Chinatown, Kingsford that has so many Indonesian restaurants, some Vietnamese restaurants in NewTown, and many more. No wonder that Australia has become multicultural country.

I have a friend named Hendra who has been staying in Sydney for almost 2 years. He is taking his Ph.D at University of New South Wales. We made an appointment to meet. We agreed that we would meet in Kingsford as I wondered about Indonesian restaurants over there. I was in Macquarie University area. It probably took 45 minutes to Kingsford from there. I had never been going to Kingsford before so I had to ask about the direction to some people around. Fortunately, it was not so hard to find the right direction and I definitely made it.

I waited in front of the University of New South Wales and 5 minutes later, Hendra came with his sporty bicycle. He suggested me to try "Ayam Penyet" at an Indonesian restaurant he used to eat. The food is so authentic as I expected because the chef is originally Indonesian. I could see some customers looked satisfied with the food at the restaurant. I was happy to be able to try Indonesian food at Indonesian restaurant abroad.

After we finished eating, Hendra took me to La Perouse, a suburb in south-eastern Sydney. The place was named after the French navigator named Jean-Francois de Galaup Com de La Perouse who landed on the northern shore of Botany Bay west of Bare Island on 26 January 1788. We sat on the ground of the small hill. We could feel summer breeze and clearly could see the Bare island from the hill. There is a bridge connecting the ground we were standing at and the island. Bare island is known for its scuba diving spot and also very popular for snorkeling. For you who like diving or snorkeling, it can be your favorite destination in Sydney. Based on the internet, if we dive or snorkel, we can see big belly sea horses, sea dragons, pygmy pipehorses, red Indian fish, seals, grey nurse sharks, and all the usual fish seen around Sydney. Unfortunately, we didn't dive nor snorkel. We just briefly took some pictures of the place. It was not bad for our unpredictable short trip.
